Why I Paint on Furniture Board

When people ask about my technique, they're often surprised to learn I don't use traditional canvas.

The Discovery

I discovered furniture board (bútorlap) almost by accident. It's the same material used in furniture manufacturing — sturdy, smooth, and incredibly affordable compared to stretched canvas.

The Advantages

• Affordability: Significantly cheaper than quality canvas
• Smooth surface: Perfect for detailed work
• Durability: 3-4mm thick, won't warp or dent
• Size flexibility: Can be cut to any dimension

The Result

This approach lets me offer original artwork at prices that would be impossible with traditional materials. You get a real oil painting — not a print — at a fraction of what galleries charge.
